Amsterdame was created in response to Amsterdam’s widening gender gap. Once ranked 9th globally for gender equality in 2008, the Netherlands has since dropped to 28th. The project aimed to harness digital as an immersive tool to
expose silent aggression against women and drive lasting change.
PROCESS
The graphic design team developed a bold new brand and slogans for the movement and we launched its introduction to the Amsterdam public through a guerrilla-style campaign.
The digital design team developed the Amsterdame app to accompany the graphic output making it
a cohesive design
eco-system. The app features a map that reimagines Amsterdam’s masculine named canals with feminine counterparts, paired with fun facts about each area. It also serves
as a platform for influential female speakers to share their wisdom and solidarity through live speeches
and blogs.
IMPACT
Amsterdame gained lasting recognition, with users continuing to engage through QR codes on posters and stickers across the country, making it a meaningful and curiously enjoyable experience well beyond launch.
